During the first half of Season 3, Kevin was in the RROTC with Moose up until they broke up and Moose moved to Glendale.
During the second half of Season 3, Kevin is a member of The Farm which is a cult. Kevin has been brainwashed by the Farm and so he's been the worst version of himself, and now many people hate him. (Some were already hating on Kevin BEFORE he joined the Farm.)
@maeve-of-winter: Not only do I not believe RAS about the "happy ending" specifically for Kevin (as opposed to just handwaving it all as eveything being suddenly fine for everyone), but if I were Casey Cott, I’d be pissed at the faint praise after seeing how RAS positively gushed over the Core Four and their actors.
I haven't really been watching the show since 3x06; I've only been looking up spoilers of the episodes after 3x06. This show has become such a disaster (starting off with Season 2 and even more so during Season 3), I can't even get into watching any more of it for real.
As an LGBT person, I really can't stand the Riverdale writers doing their LGBT male characters dirty, and yet they often seem to care a lot more for their LGBT female characters (Cheryl and Toni). Why can't the LGBT males get the same respect as the LGBT females? And why can't there be a happy male gay couple and a happy lesbian couple at the same time?
There are LGBT people in the Riverdale writing staff - including the showrunner who is gay, yet they do Kevin and other queer male characters dirty.
Though, I really can't help being so curious about what goes on with my lovely Kevin. So, I've just been looking up spoilers - especially the ones about Kevin, rather than actually watching this stupid show.
I haven't looked up spoilers of the Season 3 finale yet. I'll do that later whenever I'm ready to.
Yes, Kevin really NEEDS Joaquin..like seriously! So I want Joaquin and Joavin back too!
It should be okay for Kevin and Joaquin to get back together. Kevin's dad is no longer the sheriff, and FP used to be a Serpent but now he is the sheriff.
- Kevin was the best version of himself when he was with Joaquin and vice versa. Kevin and Joaquin were even very protective of each other.
- Back in Season 2, Kevin agreed to help Moose wreck the Serpents' bikes, which was totally against his character. - Then, in Season 3, Kevin and Moose did drugs together while they were "dating" ... just like Moose and Midge! - Moose got attacked by his own father, and he was so shocked by it that he left town.
- Kevin and Fangs were members of a dangerous cult called The Farm, in which they were drugged and brainwashed, and they also got their organs taken away. - Fangs left Kevin to ascend with the rest of the Farmies.
I really hope KJ Apa and/or Nico Bustamante can convince the Riverdale writers to let Rob Raco come back. I know Nico is trying it, and maybe KJ wants his friend back on the set too (Rob and KJ are close friends in real life, and they're even in a musical band together).
(Nico Bustamante plays Joaquin's little brother Ricky. And by the way, I also want to see some brother love between Joaquin and Ricky.)
I wouldn't carry out a lot of hope for some straight guy to go gay or bi and date Kevin. I don't highly expect any of the straight characters to go gay or bi in canon.
I also don't wish for all of the Riverdale characters to become gay and stay gay in canon. All sexualities are valid and should always be treated respectfully equally.
Archie may have been kissed by Joaquin, but there was no romantic connection between Archie and Joaquin. Obviously, Joaquin kissed Archie just to thank him for being loyal to him, and to apologize to him for having to stab him to save his own life. The writers can do some queerbaiting.
Archie continued his romantic relationship with Veronica....even during his time in juvie, until he had to flee town to avoid law enforcement after escaping from juvie. A little while later, he returned to town when it was safe for him to return, and he dated Josie for a little while until she left town (they're making a spin-off called Katy Keene, and Josie will be a part of it). And now, Archie and Veronica are back together again. So, as of now, I have to say that Archie still seems to be heterosexual in canon.
Though, Archie fans can make him bi or gay in their fanfics and edits as long as they wish. (If canon doesn't have what you want, you can create your own version.)
Neither would I hope for Kevin to become bisexual and date a girl, although I personally wouldn't mind it if Kevin dated a nice pretty girl.
Kevin and Veronica have had some friend dates together. (I love their friendship.)
Kevin and Cheryl sat together at Nick St. Clair's party in Season 2 Episode 5. Casey Cott and Madelaine Petsch revealed that Kevin and Cheryl made out at that party, during the scene in which everyone but Betty was high on the Jingle Jangle, but it got cut out. (I personally would have loved seeing this make out scene, and I really do hope it gets released someday.)
Joaquin was the only boyfriend to have a real excuse to leave town. What I mean is... The reason for Joaquin's departure definitely had nothing to do with Kevin at all, and Kevin surely could understand that. But Moose's departure and Fangs' departure were both written in a way that Kevin could interpret them as Moose and Fangs thinking that Kevin couldn't help them, or that Kevin wasn't worthy.
I've found out that the script for Season 2 Episode 14 ("Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Hills Have Eyes") originally contained a storyline in which a guy named Ashton takes Kevin on a date. However, this whole Ashton story then got canceled and so it never happened on the show.
This would have been much better than all the trouble with Moose that Kevin was put through. But I guess the writers just wanted to cause more drama.
